01What we do

A sourcing partner for manufacturers, not a catalogue.

Most chemical buying goes wrong in the same few places. The specification turns out to be nominal rather than measured. The packing format does not suit how the material is actually charged. An import formality nobody mentioned adds three weeks at the destination port. Or a batch behaves differently and there is nobody technical to ask.

Chelora Chemicals is built around closing those gaps. We supply industrial intermediates across five families from India to customers worldwide. Every consignment carries measured figures, packing is chosen against how you handle the product, and the regulatory and logistics questions are raised at enquiry stage rather than discovered later.

Our product pages are written the same way — manufacturing routes, typical specifications, troubleshooting tables and the handling problems that genuinely come up in service.

04Why buyers move supplier

Six complaints we hear most — and our fix.

Almost nobody changes chemical supplier over price alone. These are the reasons buyers actually give us, and what we do about each one.

The complaint

“The specification turned out to be nominal.”

Our fix

A grade sheet tells you what a product is supposed to be. A Certificate of Analysis tells you what arrived. We issue measured figures per batch and keep retained samples, so a disagreement about quality is settled by data rather than by argument.

Batch COA + retained sample on every consignment

The complaint

“The packing didn’t suit how we charge it.”

Our fix

Drums when you needed sachets. Flake when prill would have halved your dust exposure. We ask how you charge the product before quoting, because that answer changes the packing more than the volume does.

Packing chosen after we ask how you handle it

The complaint

“It sat in customs for three weeks.”

Our fix

Usually an importer registration or notification nobody raised at order stage. We check destination formalities at enquiry and prepare hazardous documentation before despatch, not at the port.

Destination formalities checked at enquiry

The complaint

“The batch behaved differently and nobody could explain it.”

Our fix

Most batch-to-batch surprises trace to one figure — an isomer ratio, a moisture result, a colour drift in transit. Our product pages carry troubleshooting tables for exactly this, and you can reach someone who knows the chemistry.

Troubleshooting tables + a technical contact

The complaint

“We asked for a tighter grade and got a yes we shouldn’t have.”

Our fix

Agreeing to a specification you cannot consistently hit buys one order and loses the account. If a tighter limit is not realistic we say so, and explain what is achievable and what it costs.

Feasibility confirmed before you write the limit in

The complaint

“We’re managing five suppliers for five product families.”

Our fix

Amines, dye, agrochemical and pharmaceutical intermediates and oilfield chemicals from one relationship — one set of terms, one documentation standard, one technical contact.

Packing matched to the product

For products that melt near ambient or need nitrogen blanketing, packing is part of the technical conversation.

Hazardous goods handled properly

UN classification, packing group and marine pollutant marking prepared in advance, so consignments move through inspection.

Import formalities anticipated

Importer registration or notification raised at enquiry stage — it causes more delay than production ever does.

Scheduled call-offs

Contract volumes released against your production plan, so a continuous line is never exposed to spot availability.

07With every consignment

What arrives alongside the material.

Documentation that lets your QC release the material and your EHS team plan for it, without a second round of emails.

Batch-specific Certificate of Analysis

Actual measured figures — assay, isomer or amine distribution, moisture, colour and the trace parameters that matter for your process.

Current Safety Data Sheet

In the format for your region, with the classification, transport entry and handling guidance your site needs before arrival.

Technical Data Sheet

Properties, compatibility, materials of construction and storage guidance, so your engineers aren’t chasing us for it.

Retained samples

Held against every batch, so a problem found months downstream can be traced to the material or ruled out quickly.

Packing list & transport paperwork

Prepared to match the consignment exactly, including temperature records for molten and heated movements.

A technical contact who answers

If a specification question comes up mid-campaign, you talk to someone who knows the product — not a ticket queue.

08Understanding the quote

What actually moves your landed cost.

Two quotes for the same CAS number can differ by a wide margin and both be honest. The gap is almost never the molecule — it is the grade, the packing, the routing and the hazard classification sitting behind the number.

We would rather walk you through these than quote a figure you cannot interrogate. If one of them is costing you more than it needs to, say so and we will tell you whether it can change.

Before you compare quotes

  • Check both are to the same delivery term and port.
  • Compare measured specifications, not grade names.
  • Count handling cost, not just price per tonne.
  • Confirm the hazard classification matches the product.
  • Ask what the lead time assumes about import formalities.
01

Packing format

Drums cost more per tonne than bulk, but a heated isotank only makes sense if you can receive and hold molten material. The cheaper line item isn’t always the cheaper landed cost.

02

Grade and specification

A tighter isomer limit, lower moisture or controlled colour means more purification and sometimes lower yield. Worth paying for when your process needs it.

03

Port and routing

Sailing frequency from Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Hazira and Chennai differs by destination. The nearest port to the plant is often not the cheapest route to yours.

04

Hazard classification

Class 8 and Class 6.1 consignments, marine pollutants and elevated-temperature movements carry handling and documentation costs a non-hazardous product does not.

05

Order size and frequency

A full container moves at a very different rate per kilogram than a part load. Where volume justifies it, scheduled call-offs usually beat repeated spot buying.

10Frequently asked questions

Buying from Chelora Chemicals.

The questions buyers ask before a first order. For product-specific questions, each product page carries its own FAQ.

Q01What products does Chelora Chemicals supply?

We supply industrial chemical intermediates across five families: amines, dye intermediates, agrochemical intermediates, pharmaceutical intermediates, and petro and oilfield chemicals. The amines range alone covers 47 products — aliphatic amines, alkanolamines, ethyleneamines, heterocyclics, aromatic amines and fatty amines — each with a full technical page giving specification, properties, applications and handling guidance.

Q02Can you meet a tighter specification than your standard grade?

Often, yes — tighter isomer limits, lower moisture, controlled colour, narrower amine value banding. The important thing is to raise it before you write it into a purchase specification, so we can confirm feasibility and tell you the cost and lead-time implication honestly rather than agreeing and then struggling.

Q03Can you supply against our own specification rather than your standard grade?

Yes, and it is the better way to work. Send the specification at enquiry stage and we will tell you honestly which parameters we can hold, which are tight but achievable with a cost or lead-time implication, and which are not realistic. Agreeing to a limit we cannot consistently meet helps nobody.

Q04Where can I see specifications for individual products?

Each product has its own page with typical specification, physical properties, manufacturing route, applications, quality control parameters, a troubleshooting table, packing and storage guidance, hazards and regulatory notes. Figures shown there are typical — the governing numbers are always the ones on the Certificate of Analysis for your consignment.

Q05Do you supply regulated or restricted products?

Some products in our range carry precursor controls, authorisation requirements or end-use declaration conditions — several aromatic amines and a number of aliphatic amines among them. We supply these only where the end use and regulatory position are clear, and we ask for the declaration up front. If you are unsure where you stand, raise it at enquiry stage and with your own regulatory adviser.

Q06Do you sell to traders and distributors, or only to manufacturers?

We work mainly with manufacturers, because the conversation we are set up for is a technical one about your process. We do supply trading houses, but you will still get the same documentation standard and the same questions about end use and destination.

Q07How do I get a price?

Send us the product, grade, quantity, destination port and the delivery term you work to. If you have an existing specification or a competitor's COA, include it — it lets us tell you straight away whether we can match it rather than quoting against an assumption.

Q08Why do two quotes for the same CAS number differ so much?

Rarely because of the molecule. The gap is usually grade and specification, packing format, port and routing, hazard classification, and order size. A drummed, tightly specified, Class 8 product shipped part-load is a different proposition from bulk material in a flexitank, even though the CAS number is identical. Compare at the same delivery term and against measured specifications rather than grade names.

Q09Can I get a sample before placing an order?

Yes, for most products. Samples are the sensible route where an application needs proving — froth behaviour in a flotation circuit, cure profile in a resin system, shade in a dye campaign. Tell us what you are evaluating and we will send a quantity that is actually useful for that test rather than a token amount.

Q10What are your minimum order quantities?

It depends on the product and the packing. Drummed products generally start at a single drum, bagged solids at a pallet, and bulk liquids at an isotank or flexitank load. For research and pilot work we can often arrange smaller quantities — ask rather than assume the answer is no.

Q11Do you supply small quantities for R&D and pilot work?

Frequently, yes. Laboratory and pilot quantities are how most long-term supply relationships start, and we would rather support the evaluation properly than quote only for container loads. Tell us what you are developing and what scale you expect to reach.

Q12Can you hold stock or arrange scheduled call-offs?

Yes. For customers running continuous plant we work on contract volumes with agreed call-off schedules and inventory cover, so a production line is not exposed to spot market availability. For sensitive processes we can also reserve material from a qualified batch.

Q13What documentation comes with each consignment?

A batch-specific Certificate of Analysis with actual measured figures, the current Safety Data Sheet in your regional format, a Technical Data Sheet, the packing list and transport paperwork, and temperature records for molten or heated movements. Retained samples are held against every batch.

Q14What happens if a consignment arrives out of specification?

Tell us immediately and send the figures. We hold retained samples against every batch, so the first step is comparing your result with ours on the same material rather than debating whose method is right. If the material is genuinely out of specification we deal with it; if it is a sampling or method difference we will help you find that too.

Q15Can I talk to someone technical rather than a salesperson?

Yes, and we would encourage it. Most questions worth asking before an order — materials of construction, why a batch behaved differently, whether a grade suits your process — are technical questions, and you will get a better answer from someone who knows the chemistry.

Q16Do you supply worldwide from India?

Yes. We are based in India and export worldwide, shipping from Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mundra, Hazira and Chennai depending on which gives the best sailing to your destination. We work on FOB, CIF, CFR, CPT and DAP terms, so tell us the delivery point you compare prices at and we will quote to it.

Q17How long does delivery take?

Production and consolidation typically run two to four weeks depending on the product and whether material is in stock, plus sailing time to your port. The variable that most often stretches a lead time is not production but destination import formality, which is why we raise registration and notification requirements at enquiry stage.

Q18Which Incoterms do you work on?

FOB, CIF, CFR, CPT and DAP. We would rather quote to your delivery point than ex-works, because a landed comparison is the only one that tells you anything useful when you are weighing suppliers in different countries.

Q19What packing options are available?

Drums, IBCs, flexitanks, heated isotanks, lined bags, prills, flake and pre-weighed charges, depending on the product. For materials that melt near ambient temperature, need nitrogen blanketing or generate dust when handled dry, packing affects your handling and worker exposure more than anything downstream, so we treat it as a technical decision rather than a logistics one.

Q20How do you handle hazardous and temperature-controlled products?

With the classification and documentation prepared before despatch rather than at the port: correct UN number, class, packing group and marine pollutant marking, elevated-temperature provisions for molten movements, and nitrogen blanketing where a product is air-sensitive. Temperature records travel with heated consignments.
