01Who we are

Most chemical supply goes wrong in the conversation, not the plant.

Chelora Chemicals was set up around a simple observation. Most problems in chemical supply are not manufacturing failures. They are failures in the conversation around manufacturing — a specification that was never pinned down, packing that does not suit the receiving plant, a formality nobody raised until the consignment was sitting at the port.

So we built the company around that conversation. We supply manufacturers rather than resellers, quote to your delivery point rather than ex-works, and settle grade, packing and paperwork before an order is placed — not after something has gone wrong.

01
A specification that was only nominal

Measured figures, written down

Every batch ships with the figures we actually measured, and feasibility is confirmed before a specification is agreed.

02
Packing that didn’t suit the plant

Packing chosen by how you charge it

We ask how the material is received and charged before we quote, because that changes the packing more than the volume does.

03
Weeks lost at the destination port

Formalities raised at enquiry

Importer registration, hazard classification and paperwork are settled before despatch, not discovered at the port.

“We would rather tell you a product is wrong for your application than sell it to you once.”

How we work, in one line

02What drives us

What we are here to do — and how we do it.

A supplier is easiest to judge by what it does when something is inconvenient. These are the rules we hold ourselves to when it is.

Our mission

To supply chemical intermediates that manufacturers can put straight into their process — measured, documented and packed for the plant that receives them.

Everything else on this page — the five stages, the paperwork, the retained samples — exists to make that sentence true on every consignment.

Our aim

To be the Indian source a buyer never has to double‑check.

The figures hold, the paperwork is ready and the answer is honest the first time — whether that answer is yes or no.

V1

Candour

If a product, grade or timeline is wrong for you, we say so in the first reply.

V2

Precision

Figures are measured on your batch and written down, not copied from a grade sheet.

V3

Preparedness

Packing, classification and formalities are settled before an order, not after a delay.

V4

Accountability

We keep a sample of every batch, so any question is answered on the same material.

03Where we fit

Honest about who we suit — and who we don’t.

Being clear about fit saves both sides time. If we are not the right supplier for what you need, you will hear it in our first reply.

We are a good fit if…

  • You run the material in a manufacturing process, not on a shelf.
  • You want one source across amines, dye, agro and pharma intermediates and oilfield chemicals.
  • You care what was measured on your batch, not just the grade name.
  • You want packing, classification and paperwork settled before you order.

We are not the right fit if…

  • You want a catalogue sale without discussing the application.
  • You need any specification accepted as written, whether or not it can be held.
  • You need consumer or retail-sized quantities.
  • You need regulatory advice for your own jurisdiction.

On regulated products we will tell you what we know and ask for the declarations we need — but your own obligations should always be confirmed with your own regulatory adviser.

04How we are set up

Five stages, in this order.

Every enquiry moves through the same five stages. The order matters: the questions that usually cause trouble are asked at the start, while they are still cheap to answer.

  1. 01

Understand the application before the product

End use decides the grade, the packing and whether we should quote at all. We ask what the material does in your process before we talk price.

    Prevents right molecule, wrong grade
  2. 02

    Confirm the specification in writing

We separate the figures we can hold from the ones that are tight but achievable — and from the ones that aren’t realistic — before anything is agreed.

    Prevents nominal specifications
  3. 03

Qualify with a sample where it matters

Samples are sized for the test you will actually run — a flotation trial, a cure profile, a shade check — not a token amount.

    Prevents scale-up surprises
  4. 04

Settle packing, classification and route together

Packing format, UN classification and port are decided as one decision, before the order is placed.

    Prevents delays at the port
  5. 05

Manufacture, document, despatch — and keep the sample

Every consignment ships with its batch paperwork, and a retained sample stays with us so any question later is settled on the same material.

    Prevents disputes without data

06Where we are deepest

Amines are where we go furthest.

Six sub-families, each with the parameter that actually decides how it behaves in your process — and that is the figure we measure.

47 amine products across six sub-families. Dye intermediates, with 30 products, are our next-deepest range.

01

Alkanolamines

Used in

Gas treating, cement additives, emulsifiers and metalworking fluids.

We measureColour and the secondary-amine fraction.

02

Ethyleneamines

Used in

Epoxy curing, chelating agents and wet-strength resins.

We measureHomologue distribution, reported on the COA.

03

Aliphatic amines

Used in

Agrochemical building blocks, catalysts and acid scavengers.

NoteSome carry end-use declaration conditions.

04

Heterocyclic amines

Used in

Boiler systems, pharmaceutical synthesis and rubber chemicals.

We measureMoisture and freezing point — they drive shipping and storage.

05

Aromatic amines

Used in

MDI, rubber chemicals, dye and agrochemical synthesis.

We measureIsomer ratio — specified and measured.

06

Fatty amines

Used in

Flotation collectors, quats and fabric softeners.

We measureChain-length distribution and iodine value.

07Who we supply

Manufacturers, not resellers.

Our customers run the material in a process — often a continuous one. We also supply trading houses, who get the same documentation standard and the same questions about end use.

08Shipping & documentation

Packed for your plant, papered before it sails.

Packing, classification and documents are part of the quote — not something handed to a freight agent once the order is placed.

Packing formats

  • Drums & fibre drumsThe default for most liquids and many solids.
  • IBCsVolume without a tank; empties returned or handled locally.
  • Flexitanks & ISO tanksBulk liquids — heated or nitrogen-blanketed where the product needs it.
  • Lined & jumbo bagsFor solids, with the liner chosen for moisture sensitivity.
  • Prills, flake & pre-weighed chargesWhere dust exposure or charging accuracy matters most.

Paperwork, prepared in advance

  • COA
Batch Certificate of AnalysisMeasured results for your consignment, not a grade sheet.
  • SDS
Safety Data SheetIn your regional format, issued before the material arrives.
  • TDS
Technical Data SheetProperties, compatibility, materials of construction and storage.
  • UN
Transport & hazard documentsUN number, class, packing group and marine pollutant marking.
  • °C
Temperature recordsFor heated and molten movements.

10Quality & responsibility

What we commit to, in writing.

Figures on our product pages are typical. The ones that govern your consignment are on its Certificate of Analysis — and we keep the sample to prove them.

Measured, not nominal

Each batch ships with measured results — assay, isomer or amine distribution, moisture, colour and the trace parameters that matter to your process.

A retained sample of every batch

So a question raised months later is settled by testing the same material, rather than by debating whose method is right.

Regulated products, handled properly

Products with precursor controls, authorisations or end-use declarations are supplied only when the end use and regulatory position are clear — with the paperwork asked for up front.

Our commitments

On every consignment

  • Measured figures for every batch.
  • A retained sample for every consignment.
  • Feasibility confirmed before a specification is agreed.
  • Correct UN classification, packing group and marking, prepared in advance.
  • Import formalities raised at enquiry.
  • End-use declarations in place for regulated products.
  • A technical contact who knows the chemistry.

11What we measure

The figures that decide how a batch behaves.

The parameters below are the ones that most often explain why two batches of the same product behave differently in your plant.

ParameterWhy it mattersApplies to
01Assay / puritySets your charge calculations. Small differences become yield differences over a campaign. All products
02Isomer ratioThe most common cause of unexplained batch-to-batch changes in reaction rate, selectivity and shade.Aromatic amines, dye & agro intermediates
03Amine distributionPrimary, secondary and tertiary fractions affect cure speed, foaming and gas-treating capacity more than total amine value does.Ethyleneamines, alkanolamines, fatty amines
04MoistureAffects storage stability, corrosion and water-sensitive reactions — and often explains why an opened drum behaves differently from a fresh one.All products · critical for hygroscopic solids
05Colour (APHA / Gardner)A specification in its own right for dye and surfactant customers, and an early sign of oxidation or heat exposure in transit.Amines, alkanolamines, dye intermediates
06Melting / freezing pointDecides whether a product arrives molten, solid or part-crystallised — and so the packing and receiving arrangements.Solids and near-ambient melting products
07Residue on ignition / ashFlags inorganic carry-over that can poison catalysts or block filters downstream.Pharmaceutical & fine chemical intermediates
08Trace parameters by agreementHeavy metals, specified impurities, chloride or other process-critical items — we confirm whether we can hold them before you order.By specification

12Before you enquire

Send this once, skip three emails.

A product name and tonnage is enough to start — but it usually takes two or three follow-up emails. Sending these details up front avoids that.

  1. Product and grade, or the specification you work to.
  2. Quantity — and whether it is a trial, a one-off or a repeating requirement.
  3. Destination port or address, and the delivery term you compare prices on.
  4. What the material does in your process — it can change the grade we recommend.
  5. How you charge it: drums, bulk receipt, bagged solids or pre-weighed batches.
  6. Sensitive parameters — anything your process reacts to, and why.
  7. Delivery window, so we can tell you honestly whether it is achievable.
  8. Your current COA, if you are replacing a supplier.

13About the company

Questions buyers ask about us.

About who we are and how we work. For product-specific questions, each product page carries its own FAQ.

Ask us something else
Q01Who is Chelora Chemicals?

Chelora Chemicals is a manufacturer and exporter of chemical intermediates based in Mumbai, India. We supply five families — amines, dye intermediates, agrochemical intermediates, pharmaceutical intermediates, and petro and oilfield chemicals — to manufacturers worldwide, quoting on FOB, CIF, CFR, CPT and DAP terms, with a batch COA, SDS and TDS behind every consignment.

Q02Are you a manufacturer or a trader?

A manufacturer-exporter, and accountable for the certificate on every consignment. Where a product is made at a partner plant, it is made to our specification — and we will tell you the arrangement if you ask.

Q03What makes Chelora different from other suppliers?

We check whether a specification is achievable before you order, choose packing by how you charge the product, treat documentation as part of the quote rather than an afterthought, and give you a technical contact who knows the chemistry.

Q04Which industries do you supply?

Eleven sectors: polymers and resins, agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, dyes and pigments, water and steam treatment, oil, gas and refining, surfactants and home care, coatings and adhesives, construction chemicals, mining and flotation, and fertiliser chemicals — in each case for customers who run the material in a process.

Q05Do you supply small volumes?

Yes. Laboratory and pilot quantities are how most supply relationships start. Tell us what test you are running and we will send a quantity sized for it, rather than a token amount.

Q06How do you handle quality complaints?

Send us your figures. We hold a retained sample of every batch, so the first step is testing the same material and comparing results. That shows quickly whether it is a genuine deviation — which we deal with — or a method or sampling difference, which we will help you resolve.

Q07Can you supply against our own specification?

Yes, and it is the better way to work. Send it at enquiry and we will tell you which parameters are standard for us, which are achievable with a cost or lead-time implication, and which are not realistic.

Q08Do you supply regulated products?

Only where the end use is clear, the regulatory position is understood and the required declarations are in place. Your own obligations in your jurisdiction should be confirmed with your own regulatory adviser.

Q09What is your strongest product area?

Amines: 47 products across six sub-families, from alkanolamines and ethyleneamines to aromatic and fatty amines. Dye intermediates, with 30 products, are next.

Q10Do you hold stock or work on contracts?

Both. Contract volumes can be released against scheduled call-offs, with inventory cover and material reserved from qualified batches for sensitive processes.

Q11How do you decide on packing?

By how you charge the product. We weigh handling cost, dust and exposure, and your receiving equipment against the packing line item — the cheapest packing is not always the cheapest landed cost.

Q12What do you need from us before a first order?

Product, grade, quantity, destination, delivery term, what the material does in your process and how you receive it. Regulated products also need an end-use declaration and any authorisation required. A current COA from your existing source helps.

Q13How do I start?

Send us the product, grade, quantity, destination port and delivery term, plus any specification or COA you already work to. You will get a straight answer on whether we can match it.

→Start the conversation

Tell us what you need and where it has to land.

Product, grade, quantity, destination port and delivery term is enough for a real answer. Send your specification or a certificate from your current source too — we will tell you straight away whether we can match it.
